Overview

The NIR51 remote sensing road surface condition sensor avoids traffic interference caused by the installation of road weather stations. The principle of spectral measurement can accurately measure the amount of water, ice, and snow, as well as the smoothness of road surfaces. The NIR51 remote sensing road surface condition sensor can detect water and ice separately, creating a practical "wet slip" index that represents the friction ability of typical road surfaces and tires. On dry roads, the index is set close to 0.8, while on hard ice roads or roads with more snow, the index drops to 0.1. The rating of this index is based on measurements of actual friction under various road weather conditions.
